CUSTOMSLAB PROJECTS IN DETAIL Each project of CustomsLab heeded to the end users' needs from the planning process deciding on a research topic. KCS held an R&D Idea Contest open to its members and the general public to participate. Each submitted ideas were thoroughly scrutinized by a team of scientists, engineers and customs officers in terms of technological feasibility and usefulness for customs work. Five were finally selected to be developed into R&D projects: ▲ An X-Ray scanner for small size cargos with variable energy for improved detection ▲ A computer-based training program for X-Ray image interpreters utilizing KCS data ▲ A radiation detector that accurately locates radioactive contaminants within a container ▲ An AI-based multi CCTV that tracks high-risk passengers and their baggage simultaneously ▲ A THz body scanner harmless to the human body.
